Excursion through Pape Ķoņu Village

Pape Ķoņu Village is a unique urban-planning monument of national importance, located in the Pape Nature Park, on a narrow strip of land between the Baltic Sea and Lake Pape. It is one of the very few trading and cultural complexes of fishing villages on the Latvian coast that, to this day, has remarkably authentically preserved its historic layout, its wood and reed-roof architecture, and its unspoiled atmosphere.
A tour of Ķoņu Village is an excellent opportunity to escape the city rush, breathe in the salty sea air, and learn how the fishermen of Kurzeme lived and worked here a hundred and more years ago.

The walking route follows a gravel road and paths through taller and shorter grass, so suitable clothing and footwear are recommended. Arrange the duration of the tour with the guide according to the chosen route.
The guided walk through Pape Ķoņu village explores reed roofs and the layout of fishing and farming homesteads, showing how coastal life shaped local buildings. A visit to the Vītolnieki museum homestead is separate from this guided walk and must be arranged additionally.
