Things to do and places to visit in Liepaja
Start exploring Liepaja in the city centre, continue through Seaside Park to the beach, and set aside another day for Karosta. This independent VisitLiepaja guide brings together ideas for a first visit, a weekend and a trip with children. Choose a plan that suits your pace, then browse the linked sights, tours and activities to compare locations and what each place offers.
One day in Liepaja: city centre, park and beach
Begin at Rose Square, head to the Trade Canal promenade and take in the architecture of the Great Amber concert hall. After a lunch break, plan a walk through Seaside Park and along the beach. If you want to visit a museum or join a tour, leave time for it instead of filling every moment with another stop.

For a two-day visit, we suggest exploring the city centre and beach on day one, then Karosta on day two. St Nicholas Naval Cathedral and the Northern Forts introduce a different side of the city. Choose the stops that interest you and arrange a guide in advance if you would like to explore their history on a tour.

Build a family day around the playground in Seaside Park and a walk on the beach. Add one activity suited to your children’s ages, with time for food and rest. Before booking, check age requirements, availability and whether you need to reserve a place in advance.

Choose a museum or exhibition when it rains: Liepaja Museum introduces the city’s history and art. Plan a visit to Great Amber around its concerts or tours. Check opening hours for your chosen day and ticket availability, and leave room for a café break between visits.
